Adonis

Adonis (Greek Ἄδωνις) is a figure from the Near Eastern, Greek and Roman mythology, originally probably a Syro-Phoenician god of vegetation.

Origin
Presumably, the figure of Adonis comes from the Semitic-speaking countries because its name from Northwest Semitic Adon, "Lord is derived. Another view, he is originally a Phrygian goddess, whose early myth, spread around the Mediterranean was. He is also the very Inanna / Dumuzi myth similar. In Etruria was known as Adonis Atunis and was often depicted as the companion of Turan. In the First Book of Kings of the Old Testament is the story of a "Adonia" tells of "a very nice man" and as the second son of the legendary Israeli King David was attempting to bring David's throne in place of Solomon itself. Even more than the linguistic derivation (see above), this similarity of names suggests that the biblical Adonia Adonis and are seen as identical in origin, mythical figure.
