Adonis

Adonis (Greek Ἄδωνις) is a figure from the Near Eastern, Greek and Roman mythology, originally probably a Syro-Phoenician god of vegetation.

Origin
Presumably, the figure of Adonis comes from the Semitic-speaking countries because its name from Northwest Semitic Adon, "Lord is derived. Another view, he is originally a Phrygian goddess, whose early myth, spread around the Mediterranean was. He is also the very Inanna / Dumuzi myth similar.
