Acacia, especially Acacia gustotsvetkovaya were unofficial floral emblem of Australia for many years, but only on Aug. 19, 1988, the day of the bicentennial of Australia, Acacia gustotsvetkovaya was declared the official national floral emblem of Australia.

Official launch took place on September 1, 1988 at the National Botanic Garden of Australia, where the Interior Minister Robert Ray (Robert Ray) read the official decree, and the wife of Prime Minister Hawke, Hazel (Hazel Hawke) planted a bush plant.

After four years, and in 1992 year on Sept. 1 has been officially declared a National Day of Acacia.
