The Ankara crocus (Crocus ancyrensis), also called small Asian Crocus is a plant of the species of crocus (Crocus).

Features
The Ankara crocus is a perennial tuber geophytes, height of 40-10 centimeters reached. The tuber skin is grossly netzfaserig. The Perigonzipfel are colored yellow, orange and dull or rounded. They measure 13-30 × 7-13 mm. The filaments are the basic yellow bearded.

The flowering period is in February, it rarely extends to April.

Occurrence
The Ankara crocus occurs in the northern and central Turkey. The species grows on rocky mountain steppes, oak scrub and in open Pinus and Abies forests at altitudes from 1000 to 1600 meters.

Use
The Ankara crocus is dispersed as an ornamental plant used for rock gardens and borders. The species is at least since 1879 in culture. The cultivar 'Golden Bunch' is Multiflorous.
