The Eenarig Wool Grass

Eenarig wool grass (Eriophorum vaginatum) was a poll-forming perennial, which belongs to the cypergrassenfamilie (Cyperaceae). The species is on the Dutch Red List of plants as relatively rare and moderately decreased.

The plant is 30-60 cm high and has no rhizomes. Tillering is formed by a pin. The stem is filled to the top triangular stump. The oblong, triangular-shaped brush blade is V-shaped. The upper stem leaf blade and does not consist only of an inflated leaf sheath.

Eenarig wool grass blooms from March to May with a eindelingse up to 2 cm long, oblong-oval ear. The kafjes sit in a circle and are eennervig. The spike has numerous brushes (transformed bracts), which grow to 2.5 cm long, white hairs. It has the name of the plant due wool grass.
